Shenbagam — called Shenba — is a young, spirited woman from the small village of Kolappur in Tamil Nadu. All her life, she has been obsessed with South Korean culture — K-dramas, K-pop, Korean food and the dream of one day walking through the streets of Seoul. Her room is plastered with Korean posters. She teaches herself basic Korean phrases. Seoul feels like a parallel home she has never visited.
When her boyfriend secretly arranges a surprise trip to Seoul for the two of them, Shenba is ecstatic. But moments after landing at Incheon Airport — he abandons her. With barely any money, no Korean contacts, and a language barrier she hadn't fully prepared for, Shenba finds herself completely alone in a massive foreign city.
What begins as a desperate situation slowly transforms into something extraordinary. Shenba meets Ji-yeon (Park Hye-jin), a Korean woman dealing with her own personal struggles. Despite the language gap and cultural differences, a genuine and unexpected friendship forms between the two women. Through Ji-yeon, Shenba begins to discover a different Seoul — the warm, human, everyday side of the city beneath the glamour she had imagined.
Along the way, Shenba also meets a kind young Korean man (Si-hun Baek) who helps her navigate the city, and slowly the confusion and loneliness begin to give way to confidence, warmth and new connections. Made in Korea is about learning that home is not always where you come from — sometimes it is the people who choose to stand by you.
Directed by Ra. Karthik and produced by Sreenidhi Sagar under Rise East Entertainment, this is Netflix's first ever India-South Korea collaboration. Released directly on Netflix on March 12, 2026 in 6 languages globally.
