Komal (Vishwak Sen) is an eccentric, carefree film director who has been struggling to get his debut feature film made. His quirky ideas and unconventional personality make him hard to work with — but his passion for cinema is undeniable. He's been working on a project for years, but the budget keeps growing and the producer keeps stalling.
When the original producer's health deteriorates, his sharp and no-nonsense daughter Chitra (Kayadu Lohar) steps in to take charge of the production. She immediately decides to shut down the project and replace the director. Komal, desperate to save his film, hatches a plan — he will charm Chitra, win her trust, and get her to reinstate him as director.
What follows is a hilarious series of misadventures — Komal's over-the-top attempts to impress Chitra, a colourful supporting cast of industry insiders including veteran actors playing themselves, chaotic rehearsals, musical jam sessions, and unexpected twists in the production. Along the way, the professional rivalry slowly softens into genuine warmth.
Directed by KV Anudeep — the man behind the cult hit Jathi Ratnalu — Funky is a lighthearted, industry-set comedy that relies heavily on witty dialogue, absurdist humour and the chemistry between its leads.
