The fate of Earthrealm hangs by a thread. Following their narrow victory in the last tournament, Earth's champions — Cole Young, Liu Kang, Sonya Blade, Jax, Kung Lao and Scorpion — must now face the ultimate challenge: the Mortal Kombat tournament itself. If Earthrealm loses for the tenth consecutive time, Emperor Shao Kahn will be free to invade and destroy everything.
Enter Johnny Cage (Karl Urban) — a washed-up 80s action movie star with an ego the size of Outworld. Recruited reluctantly by the team, Johnny turns out to be far more than just comic relief.
