Bear (Michael Johnston) is a soft-spoken, socially awkward music store employee who has been quietly in love with his coworker Nikki (Inde Navarrette) for longer than he can remember. After a devastating personal loss leaves him lonelier than ever, a trivia night invitation from Nikki feels like a lifeline. On the way, Bear stops at a small gift shop and discovers a novelty item called a One Wish Willow — a small charm that claims to grant a single wish when snapped in two.
In a desperate moment after an embarrassing encounter with Nikki, Bear snaps the charm and wishes for her to love him more than anyone in the world. Almost overnight, Nikki transforms — suddenly warm, affectionate, obsessively devoted. Bear finally has everything he wished for. But devotion at that level is not love. It is possession.
Nikki's personality begins to warp. Her obsession grows violent, controlling and terrifying. She will protect their relationship by any means necessary — including against anyone she perceives as a threat. Bear realizes that the wish did not make Nikki love him. It broke her in the shape of loving him. And now he cannot take it back.
Made for just $750,000 after a bidding war at TIFF 2025, Inde Navarrette's performance is already earning Oscar buzz — compared to Toni Collette in Hereditary and described as the most terrifying female horror performance in years. Shot in Los Angeles in October 2024 by 26-year-old YouTube filmmaker Curry Barker.
